The Coalition's Mission
The Mission of
the Louisiana Coastal Tribes Coalition is to strengthen area-wide disaster
coordination in the tribal communities of the Bayou Lafourche Band of
Biloxi-Chitimacha Indians, Grand Caillou/Dulac Band of Biloxi-Chitimacha
Indians, Isle de Jean Charles Band of Biloxi-Chitimacha Indians, and the Pointe
au Chien Indian Tribe by sharing information, simplifying tribal members access
to services, disaster preparedness, and jointly resolving cases with
disaster-caused recovery needs, doing so in the hopes and dreams of our people
for the preservation of our unique coastal tribe’s culture and traditions.
The Louisiana Coastal Tribes Coalition is a nonprofit committed to helping in the
recovery efforts of our tribal members. Work projects are currently
underway cleaning and gutting homes. Once cleaning and gutting is complete,
repairs and rebuilding will begin. We are looking for funding sources for
the cost of rebuilding materials.
